Applications Invited from South Asian Media and Civil Society Organisations for Taking Part in ‘Multimedia Local Content Production for ICT4D Training Workshop’, 22 – 29 September 2008 Panos South Asia (PSA) is a part of a family of Panos Institute worldwide that encourages and facilitates public discourse on a wide range of issues, particularly those that have a direct impact on the least privileged and most marginalized sections of society. Panos works through media to bring neglected subjects to the fore in developmental debate, so as to give a platform for voices and perspectives, which are often rendered voiceless in the public sphere.
In this endeavour, besides other activities, PSA is implementing a project that aims to facilitate information and communication technology (ICT) driven empowerment of the marginalized people at the grassroots in development processes in South Asian countries, to mainstream their local voices and perspectives, in order to facilitate networking, knowledge sharing, and learning on information and communications for development (ICT4D) at the national, regional and global levels.
In this regard, Panos South Asia (PSA)is organising a 8 day South Asian 'Multimedia Local Content Production for ICT4D Training Workshop' from 22 – 29 September 2008, in Kathmandu, Nepal under its regional project 'Facilitating Networking, Knowledge Sharing and Learning on ICT4D in South Asia' for media and civil society organisations (CSOs). The project is supported by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) under the Building Communication Opportunities Programme (BCO). The Multimedia Local Content production for ICT4D Training workshop aims to facilitate the content development, networking knowledge sharing capacity building of media and CSOs , to enable them to create local contents for ICT4D in South Asia. The consultation workshop also aims to identify possible areas of synergy between media and CSOs on local content development for ICT4D in South Asia. Multimedia and CSOs working in various social, development, environmental and other sectors and issues in South Asia wishing to participate in the training workshop are requested to apply by filling out the attached application form. All the costs for participating in the workshop for selected applicants shall be covered by PSA. Properly filled out applications in the form attached below should be submitted not later than 13 August 2008 by e-mail to sameer@panossouthasia.org.
